Name That Tune.

How good is your music knowledge? During this activity we are diving into the lyrics of some classics to learn vocabulary.

Make sure you can “Name That Tune”!

Use Shazam for the karaoke part and Keynote to create scratch offs.

The Steps.

Here is my story:

Open Shazam and tap on the button. Let it spin a few circles and confirm the result.

Tap on Lyrics to reveal the current line in the song.

Try singing along with it. Don’t cheat, no looking.

Tap on See full lyrics to see them all.

Next we are turning this activity in a fill in the blank lesson.

Tap on Open in Apple Music.

Shazam will transport you into Apple Music to the correct song.

Tap on the play button to make sure it’s correct.

Next tap on the three dots at the lower right hand corner and select Lyrics.

Snap a screenshot of the lyrics by quickly pressing the home and on/off button.

Open Keynote and start from a blank new template.

Delete any of the remaining text boxes.

Add a slide with an image placeholder over the whole slide. Tap on the plus sign at the lower left hand corner to select this slide.

Once the slide is in, delete the previous slide.

Now tap on the plus sign of the image placeholder and insert your screenshot from your Photo Library.

TIP: You should see an album called Screenshots.

Next tap on the screen with your Apple pencil and hide some words.

Try singing along again. How many words did you get correct?

To find the answers tap on the screen again with your Apple pencil and use the eraser to reveal the correct solutions.

Going Further.

Looks like that was quite an impressive performance. Next time the theme is songs in a foreign language.

Take this activity even further by recording yourself singing along.

This is one of the activities that educators can participate in during The Playground.
