In Education We Trust.

It’s that time of the year again where the new Penny gets created. The Independence Bank has setup booths all over the square for the Creatives to have their face on the new coin.

Pick up your pencil and join them in the selfie booth.

Tracing your selfie is about the easiest thing I have done lately to contribute to my creativity.

The Steps.

Here is my story:

First open up the camera and take a profile selfie.

Next open Keynote and start a blank new presentation.

Then tap on the plus sign at the upper right hand corner and go to the Shapes Library. Add a few circles to create your coin.

Select your circles and tap on the paintbrush to give a little style. For this example I played with gradient colors.

Next tap on the plus sign at the upper right hand corner and go to Photo or Video.

Add your selfie.

Now tap on the screen with your Apple Pencil to reveal the drawing tools. Trace your profile selfie.

TIP: To make the tracing process a little easier I set the opacity to 30%.

Once the tracing is done, delete the original photo.

Touch up your result and share it.

Going Further.

Animate your drawing with the Line Draw animation or record the history behind this famous person on the coin.

This is one of the activities that educators can participate in during The Playground at ISTE.

If you are inspired to try this yourself, have a look at the resources I used:
